🪡 CLASSIC | 🍂 Medium weight duvet
Handcrafted in Italy.
Naturally exceptional.
Every The Piumino Guy duvet is made by hand in Italy by experienced artisans who have been working with down for generations.
We select only high-quality natural raw materials: certified down clusters and breathable cotton fabrics chosen for performance, durability, and comfort. Nothing synthetic. Nothing unnecessary.
Sleeping inside a handcrafted natural duvet is different. It feels lighter. Quieter. More intentional.
It means choosing to spend one third of your life surrounded by materials that breathe, adapt, and respect your body.
Artisanal is not a label. It’s a way of building comfort — slowly, precisely, honestly.
Choose the right size. Sleep without gaps.
Bed names vary from country to country; a “double” does not always mean the same size.
For this reason, we always indicate the exact duvet measurements in centimetres.
| h | l | |
|---|---|---|
| SINGLE | 200 cm | 155 cm |
| ONE-AND-HALF SIZE | 200 cm | 200 cm |
| DOUBLE BED | 200 cm | 250 cm |
Start from your mattress size and choose a duvet that extends beyond it on three sides. The overhang is essential: when you move — or simply because of body volume — a duvet that is too small will leave parts uncovered.
As a general rule, select a duvet that is wider and slightly longer than your mattress to allow proper drop on both sides and at the foot.
Coverage creates comfort.
All the details you love
Why choose an artisanal duvet?
Because quality isn’t improvised. It’s built.
An artisanal duvet starts with the right raw material: real down clusters — the soft, three-dimensional part under the feather that traps the most air. More air means better insulation with less weight.
But filling is only part of the story.
Our duvets are made in Italy by expert artisans. Each piece is filled and finished by hand — no automated industrial lines, no mass production. Every chamber is carefully constructed to ensure even distribution, calibrated warmth, and long-term durability.
We have been crafting down products for over 50 years. That experience shows in the details: how the filling is selected, how the weight is balanced, how the stitching prevents shifting over time.
And then there’s the fabric. The outer shell is not just a cover — it defines breathability, softness, and performance. A tightly woven cotton fabric keeps the down in place, allows air circulation, and creates that light, dry feeling against the skin. The wrong fabric can compromise even the best filling.
Artisanal means control. Control means consistency.
Consistency means you sleep better — night after night. When a duvet is handmade, it’s not just warmer. It’s more precise. And precision is what turns a product into something exclusive.
Natural duvet vs synthetic
They may look similar. They’re not.
A natural down duvet insulates through trapped air. Each cluster creates micro air pockets that retain body heat while allowing moisture to escape. This is why real down feels warm but never suffocating.
Synthetic fillings — usually microfibre or polyester — imitate volume using plastic fibres. They can provide warmth, but they don’t regulate humidity in the same way. Over time, synthetic fibres tend to flatten, reducing insulation capacity and breathability.
Down expands. Synthetic fibres compress.
But there’s another point we rarely talk about. We’re all becoming more careful about how we live. We choose natural food. Natural fabrics. Cleaner materials. We pay attention to what touches our skin during the day.
And then we go to bed — for one third of our life — inside plastic.
Sleep is not a short moment. It’s decades of your life. Choosing a 100% natural down duvet means spending that time inside a material that breathes, adapts, and works with your body — not against it.
It’s not just about warmth. It’s about what surrounds you for thousands of nights.
Sleeping in natural materials isn’t only a technical choice. It’s a quiet luxury.
Why don’t you use regenerated down?
Regenerated or recycled down comes from previously used products. Even when cleaned, the original structure of the down cluster may already be compromised.
And structure matters. A broken or fragmented cluster traps less air, which reduces insulation performance and long-term durability.
We choose certified European down that maintains intact, high-quality clusters. This guarantees consistent filling power, better expansion, and longer lifespan.
Sustainability matters — but performance and transparency matter too.
Is the duvet hypoallergenic?
Yes: properly processed down is washed, sterilized, and cleaned to remove dust and impurities. What usually triggers allergic reactions are dust mites — not the down itself.
That’s why fabric plays a crucial role.
Our tightly woven cotton shells act as a physical barrier against dust mites. The denser the weave, the harder it is for allergens to penetrate.
Clean filling + protective fabric = a safe sleeping environment.
Breathable, natural, and controlled.
How does a duvet keep you warm?
It doesn’t generate heat. It manages it.
Your body produces warmth naturally. A high-quality down duvet traps that warmth inside its air chambers and prevents dispersion.
The key factor is filling power (measured in CUIN). The higher the filling power, the more volume a specific amount of down occupies — which means more trapped air and better insulation with less weight.
More air, less material. More warmth, less pressure.
Nature engineered this system long before we did.
How is your duvet constructed internally?
Internal construction determines performance over time.
Our duvets are built with structured internal chambers designed to keep the filling evenly distributed. This prevents shifting and avoids cold areas forming after months or years of use.
The amount of filling is calculated depending on the chosen warmth level — lightweight, medium, or winter weight.
The outer shell is made of tightly woven cotton fabrics, selected for breathability, durability, and softness. Fabric weight and weave density directly influence comfort and long-term performance.
A duvet is not just “filled and closed”. It’s engineered for balance.
What’s included with the purchase?
Every duvet is carefully prepared and packed only once it’s ready to leave our workshop.
For shipping, it is placed inside a waterproof protective case designed to shield it from humidity and potential damage during transport. This ensures that your duvet arrives perfectly clean and protected, regardless of external conditions.
The duvet is inserted into this waterproof case only at the moment of shipment. Storing it long-term inside an airtight or impermeable cover is not recommended, as natural down needs to breathe to maintain its structure and loft. For transport, however, this type of protection is ideal.
Inside the package you’ll also find:
- detailed care instructions, so you can preserve the quality of your duvet for decades
- product specifications, including filling and warmth level
- and a small thank-you surprise — because choosing handcrafted quality deserves more than a standard box
Everything is designed to protect what matters: the product, and your experience.
What certifications do your duvets have?
We work exclusively with certified European
suppliers.
The down we use complies with strict hygiene and
traceability standards. It is sterilized and processed according to European
regulations.
Depending on the selected filling and fabric,
certifications may include quality, safety, and anti-dust mite treatments.
Full documentation is available upon request — transparency is part of quality.
How do I washand dry the duvet?
A high-quality duvet can last for decades — if you care for it correctly.
First of all, washing doesn’t need to be frequent. We recommend washing your duvet every 1–2 years. Overwashing can stress both the fabric and the down.
If you prefer, your duvet can be cleaned in specialized professional centres. Dry cleaning at a trusted laundry is also recommended, especially for larger sizes.
If washing at home:
- maximum temperature: 40°C
- use a gentle cycle
- use a very small amount of detergent
- never bleach
- never iron
Avoid aggressive products and never use silicone-based softeners or feather detangling conditioners. These products coat the down clusters with a thin film that prevents them from absorbing and releasing moisture properly. This compromises the natural hygroscopic properties of the down and reduces performance over time.
Drying is just as important as washing.
We recommend tumble drying at low temperatures. A medium-heat cycle of about 60 minutes (around 70°C) helps restore loft — but always make sure the duvet is completely dry before use or storage.
Adding tennis balls to the dryer (make sure they don’t release colour) helps redistribute the filling and prevents clumping. As they bounce inside the drum, they gently separate the down clusters and restore volume.
Never store your duvet in plastic bags or vacuum-sealed packaging. Natural down needs to breathe. Compression and lack of airflow can damage its structure.
And one simple habit that makes a difference: air your bedroom regularly. Down is naturally hygroscopic — it absorbs and releases moisture. Fresh air helps it perform at its best.
Wash gently. Dry completely. Let it breathe. That’s how a duvet lasts a lifetime.
I want a custom-made duvet. Can you do it?
Yes. And this is where craftsmanship truly makes the difference.
We can customise:
- dimensions
- shape
- warmth level
- filling type
- fabric selection
- details
Because production is fully artisanal and made in Italy, we can create non-standard shapes — round duvets, special dimensions, or specific formats designed for unique beds or interior projects.
We can also add personalised details, such as embroidery or custom finishing, for those who want something truly distinctive.
In other words: we don’t adapt you to the product. We adapt the product to you.
To build a custom duvet properly, we’ll need precise measurements and a clear understanding of how you sleep — room temperature, whether you sleep warm or cold, how much coverage you like.
Each custom piece is made by hand from scratch. Production time is approximately six weeks.
One important note: custom-made products cannot be returned.
Because when something is built specifically for you, it becomes unique. And uniqueness takes time — but it’s worth it.
